John is the Senior Partner of the firm and Head of its Private Client Department.

Senior Assistant Solicitor at Port Talbot Borough Council
Partner at Bowen & Evans, Port Talbot
Founded John Spender & Co. 1975 and was Senior Partner to 1995
Became Senior Partner of Howe & Spender in 1995

He has over 40 years practising as a Solicitor. His current role deals with:

Residential and Commercial transactions – freehold and leasehold, including residential developments for builder/developer clients. Residential and Nursing care funding and pre-planning as to assets, Powers of attorney and Court of Protection.

In the Commercial sphere an expertise in Liquor and Entertainment Licensing with associated Planning considerations.

Will drafting and Trusts, Inheritance Tax planning, the Administration of Estates, particularly tax mitigation.

He is a former Vice Chairman of the Legal Services Commission South Wales Appeals Committee.

He is a Past President of the Neath Port Talbot Law Society.
